02/16/2007 - Harrisburg, PA (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Pennsylvania attorney general Tom Corbett announced that Plymouth Township Police filed criminal charges against Garrett Reid surrounding an accident on January 30.
Corbett said an investigation found that Reid -- the son of Eagles head coach Andy Reid -- was under the influence of controlled substances, recklessly drove his vehicle, exceeded the speed limit, ran a red light, and collided with a vehicle operated by Louise Hartman.
Hartman was transported to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, where she was treated for a head laceration and cervical strain before being released.
Following the collision, Reid was found to be in possession of controlled substances and drug paraphernalia. The complaint charges Reid with: simple assault; recklessly endangering another person; four counts of possession of controlled substance (one count each as to heroin, amphetamine, Phentermine and Testosterone; driving under the Influence; two counts of drug paraphernalia; one count each as to heroin paraphernalia and steroid paraphernalia); and one count of driving under the influence of alcohol or controlled substance.
Reid was also charged with various summary traffic offenses including violating traffic control signals, maximum speed limits, driving vehicle at a safe speed and careless driving.
Reid's brother, Britt Reid, was earlier charged with several drug and weapon offenses in a separate incident on the same day. The younger Reid got into a confrontation with another motorist in an alleged road-rage incident.
A Remington shotgun, cocaine, marijuana, the prescription painkiller Oxycodone and other drug paraphernalia were recovered from the 21-year-old black SUV after the incident.
The Montgomery County District Attorney's Office referred both cased to the Pennsylvania Attorney General's Office to avoid a potential conflict of interest.
Meanwhile, Andy Reid has taken a leave of absence from his duties as the Eagles' head coach/executive vice president of football operations.
Reid is taking the time off to attend to personal matters involving his family. The leave of absence is expected to last until approximately mid- March. At that point, the Eagles expect Reid will return to his regular duties.
